D&B was proud to be a part of rehabbing the former Sendik’s store that Roundy’s is grand reopening as a new Pick N Save on Highway 100 and Drexel in Franklin. The project was completed by another flooring contractor before the original store was opened, and D&B was asked to participate in the renovation project to restore and reseal the finish. The deadline was short, with a very tight schedule coordinated for working around stocking crews and construction workers. Most work was completed in the evenings, and protection of the floor after installation was a difficult task. D&B’s project foreman was Wayne Reichwald, who installed a new sealing product, which is designed to resist oils and mild acids from penetrating exposed polished concrete floors. Other project challenges included work while product was on the shelves, a need to be 100% voc free for the safety of the workers in the area and food products, and the need to prevent airborne dust. Work was completed wet with no dust, and all sealing was completed with water based products.
The new floor was installed with a semi gloss sheen, and the finishing restored much of the fading color. D&B has performed many restoration projects where we restore the finish on polished concrete without the application of a “wax”.
